Mellcrest was incorporated on the 21st of January 1988 and later acquired by our Managing Director, Robert Hackman (in May of 1998). At Mellcrest people are the foundation of our company, this enables our continued growth and helps us to continue ‘Exceeding Expectations’. 

Robert has thrived as Managing Director, growing a family-run business (initially run from a bedroom) into a successful business with two offices, three warehouses, and over 50 employees. Robert recognised the evolving landscape of hotels and their desire to offer guests a unique, luxurious stay and seized the opportunity for growth.

In 2007 Ben Flatter (Roberts Son in Law) joined the business (Sales Director), followed in 2013 by the now HR Director, Sally-Anne Hackman (Robert’s daughter). The introduction of Ben and Sally-Anne has fostered Family values which are still paramount to Mellcrest today. The team has been further strengthened by the addition of the now Commercial Director Jamie Gold and the Operations Director Mike Dewar.

Our head office and distribution centre are conveniently located on the outskirts of St Albans. This advantageous location allows for efficient logistics, benefiting both our own fleet of vehicles and our national carriers. We now proudly supply over 2,000 products to a diverse customer base, including large nationwide groups, independent hotels, leisure parks, hospitals, health clubs, nursing homes, and educational establishments.

We are dedicated to creating a more sustainable future through innovative, eco-friendly products and responsible practices.  We offer an extensive range of sustainable products, such as biodegradable packaging that reflect our dedication to preserving natural resources. 

A stellar example of our sustainability initiatives would be our Greener Lifestyle range. All of our Greener Lifestyle products are packed in stone paper & 100% tree free. The shower caps and sanitary bags are made from cornstarch. The toothbrush, razor and comb are made from straw, while the eye mask and vanity kit are 100% cotton. Meet Jackson, our Barketting Assistant! When he arrived he was a bit woof around the edges but has grown into a well groomed dedicated member of the Mellcrest team.

Jackson can be found roaming the office, conducting checks to make sure that all pet snacks have been put away properly.

Jackson has been gracious enough to match our smart casual uniform at Mellcrest, he can often be seen sporting his snow white fur attire.
